About Anastasia
I love learning languages, but I also love working with children and young people! I have been volunteering with a Saturday school for Romanian children discovering their native language and culture for several years now - so I am very accustomed to helping students out with getting to grips with languages they're not yet fully comfortable with. I achieved a grade 9 in GCSE French and an A* in A-level French. In 2024 I participated in the Stephen Spender Prize competition, translating a poem from Romanian, and I won the School Laureate prize for KS5. I also received a Subject Excellence award for French in 2024 from my principal (as well as a Subject Excellence award for English literature and an award for Contribution to Whole School Music). I have achieved merits and distinctions for ABRSM musical grades - including grade 5 music theory, grade 5 violin, grade 5 alto saxophone and grade 6 piano.

I love French, but I can appreciate that it can be really tricky to learn sometimes! This is why I hope to pass on my passion for the subject and language by building confidence and tailoring each lesson to the student's needs. Lessons will focus on whatever the student needs to prioritise - such as building on weaker understanding of grammar points, learning vocab and cultural info if necessary, speaking practice or going through past papers. I am happy to support GCSE or A-level students. I am available for 30 minute or 60 minute sessions (currently just online).
