About Madeleine

I am currently on my gap year before university, and having just achieved straight A*s at A Level I can provide recent insight into the exam skills and revision techniques necessary to achieve academic success.

I also achieved a 9 at English Literature GCSE, as well as an 8 in English Language and an A* in History. In both History and English Literature GCSE, I achieved full marks.

In addition to support in Humanities GCSEs, I can provide in-depth help and resources for A Levels in Politics, History, and English Literature.

I have previously given English Literature tuition to a cousin, who was then able to achieve a 9, despite initially finding the subject very challenging.

I am more than happy to research and read texts I have not previously studied. However, at GCSE I covered Jekyll and Hyde, An Inspector Calls, Romeo and Juliet, and the Power and Conlict Anthology. I achieved full marks in my GCSE unseen poetry paper, and full marks in History GCSE. For A Level, my syllabus covered The Handmaid's Tale, War of The Worlds, A Streetcar Named Desire, King Lear, Modern Poetry, and Romanticism.

About the lesson

I vary my classes based on the student I am working with, but usually I will make a lesson plan that will be shared with the student beforehand. Using this, we will cover key context, vocabulary, and essay questions for that text. After the subject has been covered in detail, and the student is confident in the text, and in themselves, I will then form a range of essay question plans which we will go through together.

I provide my students with personalised revision resources, which can be accessed at any time in independent study.

I encourage my students to be open with what they find difficult. I believe that nobody should be held back by a lack of self-belief, and think that personal confidence is as important as academic success. Self-care is another core part of ensuring students achieve their potential during the stress of secondary school.
