About Heather
I hold a Master of Arts degree combining French, linguistics, and education. My thesis specialty centered around post-secondary learners who are new to language instruction, but I have also worked with high school students as well as college students in higher-level French coursework. I have taught and tutored French for many years, for people focusing their French on travel, speaking, literature, cooking, as well as grandparents learning nursery rhymes and scientists working in the lab (I hold a B.S. in Biology as well as French).
I have lived in France three separate times in my life, starting with a month-long program as a teenager in Normandy. Most recently I lived in Paris for 5 years as an ex-pat raising a bilingual/bicultural child.

Whether in conjunction with a class for credit, or just as a personal enrichment experience, I would love to help you become a better French speaker. Even with no experience, you can do this! My approach spends time on foundations and basics so that as we move forward your skills build on things that already make sense to you. I love using fun whenever possible because it makes learning so much easier.
I can customize most of the materials to focus on things that will be relevant and important to you specifically. Whether you have a textbook you need help with or you have your own personal reasons for wanting to learn French, we will work together to form a course of study that will get you there.
