About Jess
I am a professional freelance Creative, which is the umbrella term I use for a multi-faceted career: I am an Actor and Musical Director for theatre, and have travelled the world with my work. I am a singer and front woman for a band, I am a multi-instrumentalist and Folk Singer-Songwriter (about to release my debut EP!) and, as a constant alongside all of my creative work, I am a Music, Singing and Acting tutor. Instruments I play to a professional standard are: Guitar, Piano, Piano Accordion, Ukulele, Bass and Double Bass. I am deeply passionate about people receiving excellent 121 tuition, understanding how deeply frustrating it can be to not have access to these vital creative outlets. I believe music and creativity is for everyone, whether you want to become a professional, or simply want to be able to play a bit of music on a Sunday afternoon to relax. I care deeply about my students, wanting them to excel and find the joy and pleasure in creativity that I do!

Guitar lessons will be focused on you finding the style you would like to be playing and working towards whatever your end goal may be - be that exams, playing to accompany singing, or playing just for yourself. I feel passionately about giving every student a firm foundation in music, whether it's piano, guitar or ukulele that you are looking for. You'll be leaving as a well-rounded musician with a concept of The Whole Picture, as well as learning the specifics of the guitar. Lessons will include: - Music Theory and putting it into practice - Learning pieces - Finger picking and strumming styles - Reading music and Tab - learning by ear - Chord Theory - Playing and singing together - accompaniment technique - scales and soloing - improving repertoire There's so much to discover with the guitar! but, you tell me what you fancy focusing on, and we'll make it happen. I use games in my teaching for children and adults alike - who says we grown-ups don't like a bit of competition too?! This is a proven technique for learning theory in a more effective and reliable manner... and FAR more enjoyable than just working through notebooks.
