About Katie
Hi ! I am Katie R.
I have over 5 years of experience working with children from age 3 - 15. I am a qualified primary school teacher, with a specialism in reading and numeracy!
What to know a cool fact about me? I am from IRELAND! I am currently living in Canada, where I teach and tutor!
Reading and writing can fill children with dread! With my reading and writing fun approach, I can allow your child to become a learner who loves to read and write. I build on the foundations of reading while incorporating writing and oral language. I use these 3 components together to allow your child to become to reader and writer they were born to be!
As someone who used to dread math class, I decided to research why we dread math, and how to change our attitudes! Using math recovery program, I have found tmy students increasing their math knowledge, and also finding a love for the subject they used to dread!

What students love about my style is that I can simplify difficult concepts, make them easy to understand and retain. In one hour I can cover more material and allow you to truly comprehend it than you could have imagined possible.
My style includes asking lots of questions, letting the student develop his/her own thinking strategies. Students appreciate the visuals I provide them with, including concept maps, diagrams, and simple drawings, which can be more effective than long tedious text.
My lesson is divided into sections, which can maximize the learning benefits for you. We start with a revision from the last session, we move onto the content of the new lesson, then we may watch a short video about it, after which we'll solve practice questions, and finally, we sum up what we did during the period.
I will email you any soft copies of notes we take, questions we solve, or links to videos we watch.
I thoughtfully plan a lesson beforehand and no time is wasted.
