About Tim

I am a qualified secondary Mathematics teacher from the UK with a First Class MSci in Mathematics from the University of Birmingham. I have four years of classroom experience teaching senior secondary courses equivalent to VCE Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics. Alongside my classroom teaching, I have delivered one-to-one and small-group tutoring, supporting students to improve exam performance and confidence in high-stakes assessments. About the lesson

Teaching Methodology:

My lessons are structured and exam-focused. I begin by identifying gaps in understanding through targeted diagnostic questions and recent SAC or exam performance. From there, sessions are tailored to strengthen conceptual understanding, refine problem-solving methods, and improve exam technique.

For VCE Methods and Specialist Mathematics, I focus on:

-Clear, step-by-step modelling of exam-style questions
-Developing precise mathematical working aligned with marking schemes
-Timed practice to improve speed and accuracy
-Addressing common high-mark errors
-Building confidence under exam conditions

SAC (School-Assessed Coursework) preparation is a key focus, ensuring students are fully prepared for internally assessed tasks that contribute to their final study score.

Lesson Length:

Standard lessons are 60 minutes.
90-minute sessions are available for Year 12 students requiring deeper exam preparation or SAC revision.

Qualifications & Experience

-First Class MSci in Mathematics
-Qualified Secondary Mathematics Teacher
-4 years classroom teaching experience, including senior secondary/A-Level (VCE equivalent)
-Experience delivering one-to-one and small-group tutoring
-Extensive experience preparing students for high-stakes examinations
