About Ollie

Hello! I'm a friendly, passionate teacher with over 10 years of experience educating students of all ages. I'm a fully qualified teacher from the UK with a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) and I'm TEFL qualified. I have taught English in Japan, coached sports and taught science in secondary schools in England so I have a wide range of experiences with students of all ages and from different backgrounds. I lived in Japan before I could speak Japanese so I understand what it is like to learn a foreign language and I use this experience to help me plan my lessons.

About the lesson

I would love to help you achieve your goals with enjoyable lessons that will be personally tailored to fit your needs. My lessons will be a mix of conversation (listening/speaking) and tasks (reading/writing) for you to do online through Google documents. This means I can work with you in real time and give you immediate supportive feedback. I have created a 10 lesson beginner course in Japanese, drawing from my own personal experience living in Japan. This course aims to establish a good knowledge of conversational Japanese and will enable you to communicate effectively using the most important vocabulary and grammar. The lessons will be adapted for you, taking your level and previous knowledge into consideration. I look forward to helping you soon so please feel free to get in touch :)

Perfect! I am having a fantastic time learning Japanese with Ollie! Each lesson is a really well balanced mix of reading, writing, listening and speaking which helps solidify all the new words, phrases and topics covered during the lessons.
As a teacher, Ollie is very kind and patient - it is also evident that he really enjoys teaching the subject and getting to know the learning style of his students!
I’ve immensely enjoyed learning Japanese with Ollie and am really happy with my progress so far - I’m looking forward to continuing my Japanese language journey!
