About Ray

I have been teaching English for over fifteen years in schools in London and Manchester. In that time, I have helped hundreds of young people to meet and exceed predictions about their potential grades at GCSE. I am experienced in both the new AQA and Edexcel GCSE courses. I have undertaken a variety of roles during my time in teaching including Head of Faculty, Head of Year and Director of Learning. My recent successes include helping a student improve by two grades in two months to achieve Grade 8 in her 2019 English Literature examinations. My current projects include tutoring Chinese and Korean students online for English private school entrance examinations and consultancy work for youth services provided by Trafford Housing Trust. I am also a GCSE English Language examiner for AQA.

About the lesson

I have extensive experience of teaching at KS3, KS4 and KS5. I have a wide range of experience in teaching many literature texts, successful strategies for improving spelling, punctuation and grammar and approaches to extended writing. I particularly enjoy teaching Shakespeare and helping young people to craft their imaginative writing. I pride myself on balancing teaching rigour with a warm and approachable teaching style.
