About Muhammed Uwais
My name is Muhammed Uwais Jooma and I am a passionate English tutor based in Pietermaritzburg, originally from Durban.
I specialise in helping Grade 8 and 9 learners with both English Home Language and First Additional Language.
My approach is simple: understand, don't memorise. I focus on building confidence and making difficult topics like comprehension, summary writing, grammar, and essays easy to understand. I am patient and I teach according to the CAPS curriculum, focusing on your schoolwork and exam preparation.
I am committed to helping learners improve their marks and enjoy English again.

My approach to tutoring is simple: understand, don't memorise. I focus on building confidence in English for Grade 8 and 9 learners.
My methodology is interactive and CAPS-aligned. I break down difficult topics like comprehension, summary writing, grammar, direct/indirect speech, and essay writing into simple steps. What makes me unique is patience and relating to learners at their level - I was once in their shoes.
I am proficient in English and can teach both Home Language and First Additional Language.
A typical lesson with me includes: quick review of schoolwork, clear explanation of the topic, practical examples, and guided practice where the learner does the work with my support.
My lessons are aimed at Grade 8 and 9 students in Pietermaritzburg who are struggling with marks, lack confidence in English, or want to move from average to top achievers.
