I don't believe in "gifted" programmers. Programming is a craft, like carpentry. If you have the right tools and a coach who can explain the same concept in three different ways until one "clicks," you will succeed. My future student will like system design and problem solving

Many instructors treat Computer Science like a series of syntax rules to memorize. I treat it like system design and problem-solving. Here is why my approach is different and how it will actually get you to "think like a programmer." 1. The "Visual First" Architecture Most students struggle because they try to visualize code in their heads, which leads to cognitive overload. I use visual mapping for every concept. Whether it's how a pointer references a memory address or how data flows through a React component, we draw it before we code it. 2. Learning via "Reverse Engineering" Instead of starting with a blank file (which is intimidating), I often provide a finished, working piece of "mystery code." We break it together. By seeing how a system fails when you remove a specific line, you learn the why behind the logic, not just the how. 3. Mental Models over Syntax Languages change—logic doesn't. I focus on building language-agnostic mental models. The Chef Metaphor: Understanding a CPU as a chef, RAM as the counter space, and the Hard Drive as the pantry. The Post Office: Understanding networking and IP packets through the lens of a global mail delivery system. 4. Industry-Standard Workflow I don't just teach you to write code; I teach you to build software. From day one, we use: Git/GitHub: For version control (so you never lose work). Debugging Tools: Learning how to use a debugger is 10x more valuable than "guessing" why code doesn't work. Documentation: Learning how to read technical docs so you eventually don't need a coach at all.
