About Shinnelle

Hi, I'm a 31-year-old English tutor with a truly international story. Born in Jamaica and raised in Australia, I've spent my life navigating different cultures, accents, and environments — and English has been my native language through all of it. My education from primary school through university was completed in Australia, giving me a strong foundation in formal, academic English.
I hold a degree in Psychological Science, which means I don't just teach English — I understand how the mind learns, retains, and builds new skills. This gives my lessons a real edge when it comes to helping students who feel stuck or frustrated with their progress.
Currently based in Canada and pursuing a career in law, I bring a sharp, analytical mindset to every lesson. Whether you need to polish your everyday conversation, master grammar, or crack IELTS or TOEFL, I know what it takes to communicate clearly, confidently, and correctly in high-stakes situations.
My multicultural background means I deeply appreciate the journey of learning and adapting to a new language and culture. I've seen it firsthand — and I'm here to make your path easier.

About the lesson

My 45-minute lessons are designed with a clear structure so you always leave knowing exactly what you've learned and what to work on next. Whether you're building everyday conversation skills, sharpening your grammar and writing, or preparing for IELTS or TOEFL, each session is tailored to your specific goals and current level.
As a Psychology Science Graduate from Australia, I understand how people absorb and retain new information — so my lessons are built around real-world scenarios that make English stick, not just textbook theory.
Every lesson includes:

A focused lesson plan so we use our 45 minutes efficiently
Real-world practice through role plays, discussions, and authentic materials
Homework & follow-ups to keep your progress going between sessions
