About Iris

I’ve spent more than a decade teaching maths and helping students rediscover their potential. With a BSc in Mathematics for Data Science and 11 years of tutoring experience, I specialise in making algebra make sense. My lessons focus on foundational topics like linear equations, polynomials, and functions. Many students come to me unsure or anxious about maths, but that changes once they realise it can be fun. I use puzzles, analogies, and real-world examples to bring numbers to life. Step by step, we build understanding that feels solid and lasting. I adapt each lesson to match how a student learns best — whether through visuals, logic, or hands-on practice. My approach is calm, structured, and supportive. Confidence doesn’t come overnight, but it grows with every success. Seeing students go from hesitant to self-assured is what keeps me inspired. Algebra becomes easier when it feels relevant, and that’s exactly how I teach it.

About the lesson

I teach maths with a focus on financial understanding and real-world usefulness. Every concept, from algebra to functions, connects back to everyday financial decisions. I include topics like interest calculations, budgeting, and investment analysis to show how maths shapes smart money choices. My lessons are step-by-step and interactive. For coders and Olympiad aspirants, I add challenges that mix logic, coding, and number sense. I emphasise problem-solving through simple models and data examples. Students learn how to apply equations to realistic situations, building both confidence and independence. I encourage curiosity and exploration, not just memorisation. Each session aims to reduce anxiety and build a sense of mastery. Mistakes become opportunities to learn. My teaching style is flexible, adapting to each learner’s pace and style. By combining mathematical rigour with financial literacy, I help students think smarter about numbers and money. The goal is simple — maths that makes sense and skills that last.
