About Laura
I have completed AMEB Piano for Leisure up to Grade 6 and Grade 2 in Music Theory. I also received a Band 6 for Music 1 in my HSC in 2016.
I been giving private piano lessons for about 2 years and have had approximately 5 students within this time.
I am experienced with students aged 5-30. I have been able to start with young beginners with no piano experience, and guide them to a level of competency where they are able to complete AMEB piano exams within 2 years.
I am able to confidently teach classical, jazz, and pop styles of piano, as well as music theory.

I have a friendly, warm approach to tutoring, and prefer to be seen by my students as a friend rather than a tutor. This works well for children or those who may be shy, enabling them to feel more comfortable and enjoy playing piano rather than see it as a chore.
I am experienced with working with children, some of who have had medical conditions such as anxiety, ADHD, or dyspraxia, in addition to teaching mature age students.
I like to give my students a range of skills - not just classical piano, but also playing scales, learning to play chords for popular music, aural skills, note and sight reading, and music theory. I believe having a lesson where all these skills are taught is essential to forming a comprehensive piano education, whilst being varied and lots of fun at the same time.
I am confident in using AMEB teaching books, as well as the John Thompson method, but am happy to teach students whatever artist, book, song, or style they may enjoy!
