About Yashna
Hi, I'm Yashna, a second-year medical student at the University of Birmingham with a passion for helping students achieve their academic goals. Having completed the IB program and gained several years of tutoring experience, I understand the challenges students face and the importance of clear explanations, patience and encouragement. I am reliable, approachable and committed to creating a positive learning environment where students can build both confidence and subject knowledge.

My approach as a tutor is centred around building confidence, understanding and independent problem-solving skills. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each individual's needs, strengths and goals. Rather than focusing solely on memorisation, I encourage students to understand concepts thoroughly so they can apply their knowledge effectively in exams and real-life situations.
A typical lesson begins by identifying areas that the student finds challenging, followed by clear explanations, worked examples and guided practice questions. I regularly check understanding throughout the lesson and provide constructive feedback to help students improve. I also incorporate exam-style questions and revision techniques to strengthen both subject knowledge and exam performance.
As a medical student at the University of Birmingham and an IB graduate, I understand the demands of academic study and the challenges students face. Having previously tutored Mathematics and provided peer support in Biology and Chemistry, I am experienced in explaining complex concepts in a simple and approachable way.
My lessons are suitable for school students studying Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry, including those preparing for examinations or looking to improve their confidence and overall academic performance.
