About Danny
I have a wide range of tutoring experience, working with learners from 5-70+. I have prepared learners for formal instrumental grades, up to grade 8, although I regularly work with learners in a more informal setting, facilitating their musical development and helping them achieve their own goals without the use of grades.
I've worked since 2012 in schools and councils as an instrumental teacher. Currently, I teach guitar and bass at Arts and Media School Islington, in addition to conducting instrumental workshops for the Idea Store in Tower Hamlets. As a private teacher, I have six years of experience working with students on an individual and group basis, supporting students' needs and guiding their musical development.
As a performer, I play a variety of styles professionally - jazz, latin, pop, rock, blues, folk. One of the highlights of my career thus far has been performing in the Frank Ocean band for his Scandinavian tour in 2017. Other credits include guitar/bass for: Calista Kazuko, Grace Garner, Isaac Lee-Kronick, Habañera, Kimona, and more.

I believe strongly that formative feedback (non summative, informal reflection from learner and teacher) is an incredibly powerful tool in developing a learner's abilities. I deliver my lessons in a friendly way that encourages the learner to consider their own goals and progress. I believe that it is my responsibility to help the student get as much as they can from the lessons; this could mean anything from helping them to learn their favourite song in an authentic style, to providing guidance on the songwriting process.
