About Sgianach

I am currently in the write-up period for dual PhDs, one in English and American Studies at the University of Manchester (England) and one in English and Theatre Studies at the University of Melbourne. I have recently relocated to Melbourne and looking to set up a new client list here. I also hold a Master of Arts from the London School of Oriental and African Studies and a Bachelor of Arts from Edinburgh Napier University. I have been tutoring for over six years and genuinely love working with students at all levels, be it secondary school, university or outside of formal education. I have published academic work and love helping students develop their own voices, whether for essays, research, or professional and creative writing. I aim to create a supportive, relaxed learning environment where students feel confident, motivated, and excited about improving their skills. I currently have flexible availability, including weekdays and work hours.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is holistic and student-centred. I have taught at university level and currently tutor students in Years 10–12 (senior secondary), as well as undergraduate and Master’s students. I also work with learners outside formal education who wish to strengthen their reading, writing, and analytical skills. I have experience supporting neurodivergent students, including those with ADHD and dyslexia, and strongly believe that effective learning depends on finding the right approach for each individual. My aim is to accompany students in discovering how they learn best, achieve strong results, and enjoy the process.

I offer concession rates for clients experiencing financial hardship, including those receiving Centrelink, students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and first-generation university students. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss options.
