About Rini
I am a Computer Science PhD student at the University of Cambridge and have recently graduated with first-class honours from Imperial College London, where I completed an integrated 4-year Master's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. Before that, I received A*s in Maths and Further Maths, both at A-Level and GCSE.
I have experience in teaching Maths to a broad range of age groups, from being a classroom helper to 11 year olds during their secondary school maths lessons, to running small-group tutorial sessions for first-year undergraduates at Imperial College London over the last two years. As part of my studies at school and university, I have covered a number of subareas within maths, including pure and applied maths, statistics, discrete maths and mechanics.
I am a friendly and approachable person, and I aim to make every student feel confident in their ability to reason about maths. I cater to students of different abilities and adapt my teaching style depending on the individual, whether they are aspiring to do a degree in STEM in the future or simply looking to get the best possible grade in a subject they are finding tricky.
I strive to teach in a way that builds students' confidence and develops their problem-solving skills, both of which are critical for understanding maths and being able to perform well in maths exams. I am committed to helping students reach their full potential.
My lessons involve:
- Recap of material covered in school that the student may have found difficult or not fully understood
- Working through problems during lessons, with special emphasis and extra practice on the parts students find difficult
- Setting homework that reinforces what has been covered in the lesson
- Past paper questions
- Plenty of opportunities for students to ask questions and clarify concepts
