About Helena
I’m reading Natural Science (physics/biology) at the University of Bath. The unification of different sciences is particularly enthralling to me as they were separate subjects throughout my education and now I study how they impact each other. I further engage with my course as a physics academic representative in the university.
My upbringing was very international. I experienced many different educational systems and cultures. While this was challenging, it provided me with a great deal of resilience and more importantly, a curiosity-driven mindset. I studied 12 GCSEs and the equivalent of 6 A levels, consistently achieving top grades. Consequently, I understand the challenges of a multitude of subjects and can help students master their weakest areas.
Outside of education, martial arts is undeniably my greatest interest. On top of 6 years of grading, I’m an assistant instructor for junior classes, doubling my dojo hours. This opportunity gave me significant hands-on experience in a learning environment and is the main reason I became a tutor; it’s tremendously gratifying to help others through challenges I once experienced.

My focus will always be where my students need it, whether it's homework, exams or general curiosity. The most important thing to me is that students understand their own individual learning styles. Both so I can adapt my lessons to help them to the best of my ability, and so they advance better in any future learning environment. But despite learning style, I always break down the material into its simplest form. Doing this enables me to work on any specific areas my students are uncomfortable with and communicate more effectively with them.
I firmly believe that practical and world-relevant examples are crucial to understanding any educational material. Even abstract ideas don't seem so far-fetched when one understands their relevance to life. This link of understanding is even more crucial to younger students. Since observation is often their primary way of learning about the world, it's helpful for them to see how so many aspects of their education are relevant to their observed reality.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. I am more than happy to help.
