About Orion
I am a dedicated leader who values empathy, resilience, and the power of education. Coming from a low-income background, I understand the importance of support and guidance, which fuels my passion for uplifting others and inspiring them to reach their full potential. I am a lifelong learner and a student at Xavier University of Louisiana, majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry and Spanish. My academic journey began at Cristo Rey Atlanta, where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA. With aspirations to earn an MD/JD, I plan to use my education to make a meaningful impact, particularly by traveling to South America to assist women facing domestic violence and instability. I believe in leading with compassion and empowering others to create positive change in their lives and communities.

Teaching Method and Techniques:
I believe in a structured yet flexible approach to tutoring. My first step is to assess the student's strengths, weaknesses, and goals for the tutoring sessions. This allows me to identify key areas that need improvement while reinforcing areas where the student already excels. I prioritize active engagement by encouraging questions and discussions to ensure comprehension rather than memorization. Additionally, I provide step-by-step explanations to problem-solving processes, ensuring that the reasoning behind each solution is clear and logical. My goal is to equip students with problem-solving strategies they can apply independently.
Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-Up and Assessment: Begin with a quick review or diagnostic problems to gauge understanding and identify areas to focus on.
Concept Breakdown: Provide a clear and thorough explanation of key concepts, ensuring foundational knowledge is solid.
Practice Problems: Work through examples together, explaining the reasoning behind each step.
Independent Practice: Allow the student to solve problems on their own while providing guidance and feedback.
Q&A and Recap: Address any lingering questions and summarize the lesson's key points.
Homework or Study Plan: Assign practice problems or resources for continued learning before the next session.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
I am highly thorough in my explanations, focusing not just on providing answers but also on helping students understand the 'why' behind each solution. Having been in a position where I struggled to grasp certain concepts, I empathize with students who face similar challenges. This perspective allows me to be patient and adapt my teaching style to match the student's learning pace. I emphasize building confidence by celebrating progress and providing constructive feedback.
Who the Lessons Are For:
My tutoring services are designed for students learning math topics up to and including calculus, excluding statistics. I work with high school and college-level students who are looking to strengthen their understanding in areas such as English and composition, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus fundamentals (I am strongest in pre calculus, algebra, trigonometry, and algebra) . Whether preparing for exams, tackling homework, or building foundational skills, my lessons cater to a range of academic needs and learning styles.
By creating a supportive and interactive learning environment, I aim to help students develop both competence and confidence in mathematics alongside other subjects.
