About Abby

I have a strong background in math and a track record of helping students and peers succeed, allowing me to provide specific lessons to meet their unique needs. I focus on clear communication and patience, so my students feel comfortable asking questions throughout our sessions. My main goal is to make a positive learning environment where students can meet their academic goals and build confidence.

About the lesson

-As a math tutor I prioritize on building a strong base in math concepts while keeping confidence in my students. A key technique I use is positive reinforcement, celebrating small victories and a growth mindset, but still being stern when needed. I also like using assessment and goal setting, having a short quiz at the beginning to see their current skill level and setting specific goals so lessons are made for their needs.
-A normal lessons plan would be:
1.Brief review from last lesson to refresh memory.
2. Introduce new topic with clear explanations and examples.
3.Guided work, together we would work through problems.
4. Independent work, they would try some problems alone.
5. Review over lesson and independent practice.
6. I may assign a few practice problems for them to do alone after the lesson to reinforce learning.
7. I encourage my students to give me their thoughts on the lesson about what the did/didn't like.
-What sets me apart as a tutor is my commitment to making a supportive and engaging learning environment. I focus on the subject and well-being of my students. I also adjust my teaching methods to work on different learning styles, making sure each student can reach their full potential and confidence in their subject and abilities.
-The lessons can vary through elementary school, middle school, and highschool up to algebra one.
