About Robert

I've been a French tutor for about four years. My students are typically just looking to improve their grades in French classes, and I have seen success in helping them to achieve that goal. My first student had an average quiz grade of 17% when we began, with his highest grade being a 32% at that time. After about two months of work, his quiz average was up to a 67%, with his highest grade being an 85%. His improvement convinced him to take another course in French the following year, and he earned a B+ in that course. Since then, I've worked with quite a few other students at a variety of levels, each with their own challenges and goals to achieve. I adapt my style to my students individually as well as I can.

About the lesson

I will complete my B.A. in Linguistics and Communication in May 2018. I am professionally fluent in French (9 years of study and 1 year of teaching French classes) and I have some experience with Arabic (1 year of study). I'm an Eagle Scout, professional public speaking training through Scouting. I'd gladly give lessons to anyone interested in learning French and/or improving their speaking ability in the language. I'm generally a very flexibly tutor and I prefer to tailor lessons to the specific student.

Details

My rates are flexible. I typically charge $30 per hour, but I'm willing to negotiate a little bit according to the student's budget.

Travel fee: Rather than charging more for a lesson that occurs further away, I usually try to do longer lessons, but fewer of them. So, for a close meeting, I may suggest three 1-hour lessons a week; meanwhile for a farther meeting place, I may suggest two 90-minute lessons a week. Same number of hours, same rate, but better on mileage.
