About Emma

I am an aspiring teacher in my second year at Queen's University, studying French and Sociology. I have wanted to teach since I was 10 years old and have lots of experience as a Soccer Coach, Math/Reading Tutor at Kumon and as a French Tutor for underprivileged students. I value effort and commitment in students and fully believe in the "I won't get there YET" attitude. I am dedicated to helping students gain confidence in French because as a young student, I always lacked confidence in my grammar and written skills.

About the lesson

I provide a slow-paced, interactive lesson for each topic of grammar and writing. This includes: a one-on-one lesson through topic and guided examples. I provide a detailed note with rules, explanations (in both French and English), examples, etc. I help students work through a workbook with practice questions to work through after the lesson. I emphasize the importance of understanding a concept, not just memorizing through repetition. I am patient and willing to reteach students as many times as it takes to fully understand them. French is my second language, so I am able to explain these concepts in English so it is easier to fully grasp these ideas. I am able to teach French Immersion or Core French curriculum from grades 1-12.

Perfect! It was a great first session. She was very pleasant and put my daughter at easy. She used a variety of assessment to establish a baseline. Then collaborated with us to come up with different learning strategies that will work best to gain success. My daughter is looking forward to the next session!

I spend time before and after lessons tailoring the curriculum to each of my specific students to ensure I can best help them gain confidence in their skills. I provide students with all of the resources (slideshows, worksheets, explanations) so that they can keep them for future reference.
