About Jessica
Hello!
I am a fully qualified, passionate Foundation Phase educator dedicated to building confidence and a love for learning in young minds. I hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Early Childhood Development and Foundation Phase, graduating Cum Laude, alongside a 120-hour TEFL Certificate completed with Distinction.
With over 5 years of professional, in-class teaching experience, I have a deep working knowledge of the CAPS curriculum. I specialise in the crucial early years where academic foundations are formed, offering expert, patient tuition and specialised intervention to support school success.
I offer targeted academic support in English Foundations (phonics, reading, and language skills), Afrikaans (First Additional Language fundamentals), and Early Maths concepts. Whether your child needs help bridging specific learning gaps, overcoming classroom challenges, or requires dedicated preparation for upcoming school tests and class presentations, I am here to help them thrive.

A shaky start in early mathematics can cause long-term academic stress. As a dedicated Foundation Phase teacher, I specialise in transforming "maths anxiety" into genuine numerical confidence. I guide primary school learners through the foundational blocks of arithmetic, ensuring they understand the why behind the numbers, strictly aligned with South African curriculum standards.
Together, we master the fundamentals:
* Number Sense & Base Operations: Developing a strong mental grasp on adding, subtracting, place values, and fractions.
* Problem Solving & Word Sums: Decoding confusing maths questions through step-by-step logic frameworks.
* Patterns, Shapes & Data: Demystifying early geometry and data structures to ensure continuous school readiness.
My Teaching Method:
I translate dry maths concepts into hands-on, relatable visual examples. Using my university training in Educational Psychology and child development, I tailor every lesson to accommodate your child's specific pacing needs. I actively look for cognitive barriers, address them gently, and provide plenty of positive reinforcement to make maths their favourite subject.
