About Ali S

Stop writing like a student and start writing like a scholar.

As a former Humanities Instructor at the American University of Beirut (AUB), I didn’t just grade papers—I designed the syllabus. I know exactly why capable students get B's instead of A's: it’s rarely about "grammar," and almost always about argumentation, evidence, and structure.

I don't offer generic English lessons. I offer targeted academic mentorship in:

Political Studies: From Machiavelli to Modern International Relations theory.

Classic Humanities: Analyzing Ancient and Medieval literature (Gilgamesh, Homer, Dante) without getting lost in the archaic language.

Research Methodology: How to formulate a thesis, conduct genuine research (including ethical AI use), and defend your argument.

In addition to being a published writer myself, I possess the rare combination of being a Native American English speaker who is also a native Arabic speaker. I know the specific rhetorical traps Arabic speakers fall into when writing in Western academic styles.

About the lesson

We Work on Two Levels: Depending on your needs, our sessions will focus on: 1. The "Decoder" (Politics & Philosophy): We take dense texts (Plato, Foucault, IR Theory, etc.) and translate them into plain English. I help you find the "hidden conversation" so you actually understand what you are reading. 2. The "Architect" (Academic Writing): We take your scattered ideas and build a university-level essay structure. We fix your thesis statements, refine your topic sentences, and elevate your academic tone.
