About Annika
Hi! My name is Annika, and I’m a McMaster University Life Sciences student with previous experience working as a math tutor at UCMAS. I enjoy helping students build confidence in subjects they may find challenging and making learning feel less overwhelming.
I’m patient, approachable, and always willing to explain a concept in different ways until it makes sense. My academic background in science and math, along with my tutoring experience, has taught me how important it is to create a comfortable and encouraging learning environment.
I take each student’s goals seriously and aim to make every lesson productive, supportive, and tailored to their individual needs.

My approach to tutoring is focused on making difficult concepts feel simple, clear, and manageable. As a former math tutor and current McMaster Life Sciences student, I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to match each student’s needs and pace.
A typical lesson starts with a quick review of what the student is currently learning and any areas they are struggling with. I then explain the concept step by step, work through examples together, and provide practice questions to make sure the student can apply what they have learned independently. I also focus on teaching problem-solving strategies rather than just memorizing answers.
What sets me apart is my patience, ability to explain concepts in different ways, and experience working with students who may feel confused or discouraged by a subject. My lessons are best suited for elementary and high school students looking for support in math and science, whether they need help with homework, test preparation, or improving their overall understanding and confidence.
