About Nadir
Former Head of Department and qualified teacher trainer with 18 years of teaching experience. My department achieved record breaking results and was voted the most popular by pupils. The secret of my success? Establishing a strong connection with pupils, an engaging curriculum and driving high expectations.
In 2016 I began tutoring full-time, mainly specialising in the KS2 SATs exams preparation (English and Maths). I also tutor secondary age pupils English language and literature as well as English to adult learners.
I have been a student of ‘Personal Development’ for many years, and see this as a missing element in today’s education system. I believe helping pupils to embed aspirations that are truly meaningful will help motivate them to succeed. Furthermore, research has shown that a healthy and happy individual will always perform better, which is why I consistently encourage my pupils to develop a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally. This is done via various methods including goal setting and scheduling a home timetable to include rewards and leisure time.
In regards to my lessons, pupils begin with an assessment, the results of which are used to develop a curriculum plan. Pupils are regularly re-assessed and tracked to ensure good progress. I make use of interactive games and websites which increases engagement. One significant advantage of one to one lessons are that lessons are dynamic and can change focus to develop emerging learning needs within the lesson. Homework issued is tailored according to the development needs arising from the lesson whilst still making good progress on the curriculum pathway. I’m always looking for opportunities to celebrate success (as should all of us) due to the proven link between praise/achievement and performance – as well it being a fun thing to do!
