About Olivia
It's great to meet you! I'm Olivia, and I'm excited to work together! I love the English language (I also speak French!) and love to read and write - in my personal life and professionally.
I work in marketing and public relations where I read and write all the time. In my free time, I enjoy reading nonfiction and writing creatively.
Throughout high school and college, I tutored students in English writing and political science. I have bachelor's degrees in international studies and French. I worked for one academic year as an English teacher in France at a middle school and high school. I then went to graduate school at the University of Denver to study international relations and communications, but teaching has always been my passion.
I enjoy working with students and bringing creativity into our sessions to make them engaging and meaningful.

I have experience working with students of all levels - from middle school to college. I am also experienced with students who are learning English as a second language.
I enjoy starting lessons by establishing a goal, whether that's to complete a homework assignment, understand a song, or create an outline for an essay.
I like incorporating relevant social and cultural references into my lessons, so that students understand how our work applies in the real world.
When relevant, I break our lessons into sections to observe and then practice a concept. For example, if we're working on reading comprehension, we might start by looking at advertisements and discuss our takeaways to understand why reading comprehension is important before moving into an assignment.
