About Chaya

Hello! My name is Chaya, and I'm thrilled to help you on your language-learning journey. Growing up in Mauritius, a country where both French and English are official languages, I've been immersed in these languages from an early age. I then had the incredible opportunity to study engineering in Germany, where I became proficient in German, both academically and professionally. My diverse language background enables me to offer you a unique perspective as a native French speaker who also knows the challenges of learning new languages.

I bring solid teaching experience from my time as a Physics tutor at university, where students appreciated my clear explanations and supportive approach. This experience taught me the value of patience, adaptability, and thorough preparation—all of which I bring into my language lessons. Although I’m new to formal language tutoring, I’m confident that my teaching skills, paired with my multilingual background, will make our sessions enjoyable and productive.

I genuinely love languages and am passionate about helping others gain the confidence to speak them. My goal is to create a friendly, encouraging environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, practicing, and progressing at your own pace. Approach to Tutoring and Class Structure

Techniques and Teaching Methodology: As a tutor, my goal is to create an engaging and supportive environment where students feel encouraged to practice and make progress. Drawing on my background as a Physics tutor in university, where my students consistently appreciated my clear explanations and patience, I bring a structured approach to language learning. I focus on practical language skills—like speaking, listening, and reading comprehension—through interactive exercises, conversational practice, and real-world examples. Each lesson is customized to meet the student’s needs, balancing grammar and vocabulary with plenty of practice opportunities.

Typical Length of a Lesson: My standard lessons are 60 minutes, which is ideal for covering new material while allowing time for practice and questions. For younger students or beginners, I also offer 30-minute sessions to keep focus and energy high. Advanced students or those with specific goals may choose 90-minute sessions for more in-depth learning.

Qualifications and Experience as a Tutor: While I’m new to language tutoring, I am confident in my ability to teach and guide students effectively. I am a fluent French and English speaker, having grown up in Mauritius where both are official languages. I also hold an engineering degree from a German university, giving me a strong grasp of professional German. My experience tutoring Physics at university has honed my teaching skills, and my students have consistently valued my patience, clarity, and adaptability.
