About Zeynep Sena

Hi, I am Sena!
I am a first-year medical student at the University of Cambridge. I achieved three A*s in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, with scores of 90% in Biology, 94% in Chemistry, and 93% in Maths.

Throughout my A-level studies, I explored various revision techniques to help me memorise content, draw connections between different topics, and apply my knowledge effectively in exams. My enjoyment of learning has helped me build a solid foundation in these subjects, and I am confident in my ability to assist A-level students with their studies and exam preparation.

In addition, I have experience as a Maths mentor for Year 12 students during my Year 13. This experience revealed to me how much I enjoy teaching and the satisfaction I get from seeing students succeed. I am dedicated to helping you achieve your academic goals.

Outside of academics, I enjoy walking around the city, reading books of all genres, and cycling.

About the lesson

In our first session, we will:
Discuss the areas of the specification the student finds most challenging.
Identify gaps in core content and focus on improving weak areas.

I aim to create an interactive learning environment where students feel comfortable raising issues and asking questions. I am flexible in using different learning tools that suit each student's unique needs.

My sessions are customised to fit each student's needs. A typical lesson structure is as follows:

25-30 minutes – Understanding Core Content:

Thorough explanations of key concepts, breaking down complex topics into simpler parts.
Use of various revision techniques to aid retention.
Drawing connections between different topics to build a strong foundational understanding.

15-20 minutes – Practicing Exam-Style Questions:

Work through past paper questions to apply the knowledge covered.
Focus on exam techniques, including using precise terminology, time management, and understanding what each question requires.

10 minutes – Reviewing Answers and Exam Techniques:

Review mark schemes to learn the criteria for high-scoring answers.
Discuss strategies for approaching different types of questions effectively.

5 minutes – Recap and Plan for the Next Session:

Summarise key points covered in the session.
Plan the focus for the next session to ensure continuous progress in understanding and exam preparation.
