About Owain
My research experience is in genetic engineering and disease vector control, but my interests span the whole of biology. I understand that many students can find it difficult to enjoy biology because of the pressure of exams, which can sometimes make school feel like it's only for memorising definitions and mark schemes. I believe that additional support outside of school can help students develop confidence in their understanding, approach exams with less anxiety, and develop a genuine enjoyment of biology.

I plan personalised lessons based on each student's preferred learning style and individual needs. A typical one-hour lesson consists of an interactive explanation of the topic, during which students are encouraged to ask questions, followed by analysis and practice of exam-style questions. The lesson finishes with a review of the content covered and a plan for the next session. This structure is entirely flexible and can be adapted to suit each individual student's needs.
