About Carla
I’m a first-class History & Politics graduate with a passion for both subjects and a particular passion for writing, research and understanding why the world works the way it does.
Academically, I achieved 10 A*s at GCSE before going on to study History, Politics and Psychology at A-Level, followed by History & Politics at university, where I graduated with First-Class Honours.
I know how overwhelming essay-based subjects can sometimes feel, particularly when you know the content but struggle to translate that knowledge into the answer an examiner is looking for. Having been through GCSEs, A-Levels and a degree myself, I’d love to help students develop the confidence, knowledge and exam technique to reach their potential.
I’m friendly, patient and encouraging, and my aim is to make tutoring something students actually look forward to rather than another hour of school!

My lessons are friendly, engaging and completely tailored to the individual student. I want History and Politics to feel interesting rather than intimidating, while giving students the skills and confidence they need to achieve the best grades they can.
Lessons can be shaped around whatever you need most, whether that’s understanding difficult topics, revising content, improving essay structure, analysing sources or preparing for exams.
I particularly focus on helping students understand how to turn their knowledge into strong answers. We’ll break down exam questions together, look at what examiners are actually asking for and develop clear, well-supported arguments.
Most importantly, I want my lessons to be a space where students feel completely comfortable asking questions, getting things wrong and building their confidence.
