About Ebony

During my time at university I was part of a tutoring programme which matched up older students with first years, and as such I have extensive experience in teaching advanced concepts and essay techniques in an easily digestible, clear, and concise way. I would also say that what I may lack in direct professional tutoring experience, I feel I more than make up for with my very recent knowledge of GCSE, A Level, and University level examinations, exam boards, and course content. As it has been under a decade since I gained my GCSE and A Level qualifications, I bring a much more personal touch to my tutoring sessions as I have direct and tangible experience of how you currently feel, the best ways to manage current workloads, and what exactly exam boards are looking for in order to maximise your grades.

About the lesson

Hello! I am a friendly and approachable young graduate currently living in County Durham. Though my degree was in Philosophical studies, I also have great academic knowledge of English Language and Literature (achieving A grades in both at A Level and A* at GCSE). I am currently studying for my advanced TEFL certification alongside working in the hospitality industry. When I'm not at work, you'll usually find me curled up with a good book, hiking the local countryside with my two dogs, or doing my best Mary Berry impression in the kitchen.

I have a very flexible and fluid tutoring approach, as I acknowledge that no one student learns in the same way as another. Ultimately, I aim to structure my sessions around your personal needs and learning concerns, as well as your individual learning style. Struggling with your essay grades and not sure where you're going wrong? As an experienced academic writer, I can read through your work and help point you in the right direction. Not quite grasping that pesky concept in your assigned reading? I can break it down piece by piece and make it easier for you to understand. Struggling to motivate yourself to study for upcoming exams? I can create you a tailor made study plan utilising study techniques that helped me achieve top grades at school and beyond. It really is completely up to you and what works for you!

I offer both online tutoring and in person tutoring, depending on your preference. Typically, lessons last around an hour, although I am open to specific requests should you require something more intensive. I am open to tutoring all age groups, although my expertise lies in GCSE and A Level exam techniques and course content.
