About Cathleen
I have always been passionate about languages and the way they open up different cultures, ways of thinking, and forms of expression. I hold a degree in French and Italian, and during my studies I lived and worked in France and also studied at Sciences Po Paris, widely regarded as one of the leading universities in the country. Those experiences helped me develop not only fluency but also a strong understanding of how French is used in real academic and everyday contexts.
Alongside my studies, I began tutoring secondary school students and quickly found the work very rewarding. Having been a language student myself, I understand that a major barrier to progress is often lack of confidence and the fear of making mistakes. For that reason, I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks with the language, and steadily building confidence in their abilities.

I hold a First Class Honours degree in French from Trinity College Dublin. I have lived, studied, and worked in France, including a period of study at Sciences Po Paris, and I have experience tutoring secondary school students in preparation for French exams.
I work with secondary school pupils preparing for exams.
My lessons are structured and tailored to the student. I begin by identifying the areas the student finds most difficult, then focus on clear explanations, guided exercises, and feedback. For exam students, I place particular emphasis on speaking practice, grammar that frequently appears in exams, and techniques for structuring written answers.
Typical lessons are 60 minutes, which allows time for explanation, practice, and feedback, though shorter or longer sessions can be arranged if needed.
