About Asiatu

I’m a passionate and personable tutor who believes that learning should feel empowering, engaging, and human. I hold a First-Class Honours degree in English Literature and Drama from Queen’s University Belfast, and I’ve been a high achiever throughout my academic life—but I never got there alone. The guidance of peers, mentors, and professors has been invaluable to my growth, and I aim to pass that same support on to every student I work with. Outside of academics, I’m a performer at heart—I love dancing, singing, acting, and loooove music (I have a lifelong, generational obsession with Michael Jackson to prove it!). I bring that same energy and creativity into tutoring, whether through humour, storytelling, or simply creating a safe, enjoyable space for learning. I love people—every person has something fascinating about them, and I approach tutoring with that mindset: helping each student shine in their own way. Above all, I want students to feel confident, seen, and capable. I believe the world is my oyster—and I’ll make sure you believe it’s yours too.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is entirely student-focused—every learner is different, so I adapt my teaching based on each individual’s needs, goals, and learning style. I believe strongly in creating a supportive, open environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas at their own pace. Lessons typically last one hour and are tailored around what the student is currently studying or struggling with, whether it’s understanding a text, planning essays, or refining analysis. I qualified with a First-Class Honours degree in English Literature and Drama from Queen’s University Belfast, where the collaborative nature of my degree often involved peer-mentoring and group analysis—skills I bring into tutoring to help students build confidence and independence in their thinking. A fundamental technique I rely on is scaffolding—breaking tasks down into manageable steps and gradually removing support as the student becomes more confident. My aim is not just to help students improve their grades, but to empower them to enjoy the subject and develop their own voice. My lessons are best suited to high school students (GCSE and A-Level) looking for a friendly, focused tutor who will meet them where they are and help them grow from there.
