About Shivranjana

I am a published writer, editor, researcher, and creative practitioner with over a decade of experience working across technology, development, education, gender, culture, and social impact.

My work sits at the intersection of ideas, people, and systems. I am drawn to questions that require interdisciplinary thinking and enjoy helping individuals and organizations make sense of complexity, whether through research, storytelling, strategy, editorial work, or teaching, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing.

Across my career, I have worked with diverse communities, organizations, and initiatives to translate knowledge into forms that are accessible, meaningful, and actionable. While communications has often been part of that work, my deeper interest lies in understanding how information, narratives, and relationships shape the ways we imagine and build futures.

I am the author of Hineni (2019), have published many non-fiction opinion and analysis pieces, as well as several short stories. Most recently, I have served as one of the two editors for Appetite: New Writing from Goa, published by Penguin Random House India and with contributions from 33 writers.

About the lesson

As a writing teacher and mentor, I meet my students where they are. We start with what they want to write about, and then get into approaches, genres, and the flow of writing as a process.

What I want to re-emphasize as a writer in the age of AI is that the gift and joy of writing lies in it needing each writer to really think and engage in a tussle in their minds to write what they want to write.

We focus on the process of arriving at a final draft in addition to the final goal, of course.

At the end of the classes, you will learn how to build on an idea to arrive at a draft that can be published.
