About Malavika

I'm a final year Law student at King's College London at the moment but I grew up in Malaysia! I went to a British school all my life and aspired to study in England ever since. Reading the classics have always been a hobby but I really fell in love with the practise of literary analysis during my A-Levels. Deconstructing every character from every plot trajectory and then connecting that to the bigger message that the author wants to send to us readers, is truly such a rewarding and exciting activity for me to do. I continued to grow more passionate about the subject during the course of my degree as the Law and the Legal profession is, at the end of the day, about interpreting words and reading between the lines.
As your tutor I will be completely committed to ensuring that you become the best version of yourself as an English student and are proud of yourself at the end of the day!

About the lesson

I believe that loving the subject is key to learning it and so my main aim would be to make you love studying English by delving deep into the multitude of mysteries it holds. Second and equally important priority would be to make sure your final goal with our time together is fulfilled; whether that is scoring well in exams, honing specific literacy skills or perfecting a certain piece of your writing. I have spoken, written, read and analysed in English my whole life and no other subject gives me more joy. Helping others experience the same joy when they write a stellar piece is something that would make me very grateful. I have multiple manuals and note sheets for improving in analysis skills, sentence construction and comprehension and would be using that, along with discussion during class to help you get to where you want to be. My lessons are for anyone ranging from ages 12 to 16 generally but am open to other age groups too! The length of my lessons usually range from around 45 minutes to an hour but I am flexible with timings.
