About Kayleigh

I am a current undergraduate student at a highly respectable university which I have worked hard to be accepted into. I definitely believe I could not have gotten to where I am now without the people who helped me with my development growing up including my family, friends who pushed me to be better in school, and the mentors I looked up to.

I was a coach at an all sports kids summer camp a year ago where I was the direct contact of developing the children's athletic, mental, and emotional skills. It took a lot of patience and perseverance, but it was especially important to become their friend they can have fun with rather than a stern supervisor. Connecting to everyone on a personal level will help both of us open up and become more willing to do the work together. I never want children to go through the hardships by themselves and it's never shameful to need extra help.

Even so today in the university, my friends and I need help sometimes with difficult materials but we confide in each other, teaching each other what we understand so that it fills in the missing gaps. I had a tutor myself and it changed the way I studied and understood new things being taught for the better.

About the lesson

After going through many different types of classes with all sorts of teachers and professors, in my opinion, trying to rush students to get all of the materials in before break is extremely difficult on the student. However, it does help both the teacher and student if the teacher gives materials out ahead of time to the student so they can briefly look over what is going to be taught so they can understand the concepts quicker as it's being taught. I rely heavily on the student's time management but also being able to teach/help them those skills. I want to utilize as much time during the tutoring session as possible so it never feels like we wasted time. I have a lot of patience, love to use analogies, and tricks to help the student understand better. The lesson plan really depends on the time we have per session and if there is some specific topic the student needs to learn from the textbook or if I need to provide my own methods of learning the topic. I am open to tutoring from entry math up to Algebra 2.
