About Doriana

I'm Doriana, a Character Lead Artist with 7 years of professional experience across film and real-time pipelines. I most recently led character art on a feature film at a UK VFX studio, overseeing modeling, texturing, grooming, and look development from concept through final delivery. I hold a First Class Honors degree in Computer Animation Arts from Bournemouth University, alongside experience managing teams and collaborating across departments to hit production milestones.

Beyond studio work, I run my own freelance photography and videography practice, so I bring a strong eye for composition, lighting, and visual storytelling into everything I teach. I've worked on projects ranging from feature films and VR experiences to museum installations and medical training simulations, giving me a broad, practical understanding of how 3D art is used across industries.

I'm passionate about helping others build genuine industry-ready skills, not just theory. Whether you're a curious beginner or preparing a portfolio for job applications, I'll bring the same care and attention to detail I apply to my own professional work.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is hands-on and project-based: rather than working through generic exercises, you'll build real assets (a character, prop, or environment) while I explain the "why" behind each technique. I break down complex workflows- modelling, UVs, sculpting, texturing, grooming, and look development- into clear, manageable steps, adapting my pace to whether you're a complete beginner or refining skills for a portfolio.

Lessons typically run 60 minutes via screen-share, combining live demonstration with guided practice and feedback on your own work between sessions. I draw on 7 years of professional experience as a Character Lead Artist in film and real-time, including leading character art on a feature film, so I can teach both fundamentals and real industry pipeline standards.

My lessons suit complete beginners curious about 3D art, hobbyists building a personal portfolio, students studying animation or game design, and aspiring professionals preparing a showreel for studio applications. All ages and skill levels welcome. I tailor the curriculum to your specific goals, whether that's game art, film/VFX, or general character creation.
