About Daphne
I am a passionate singing tutor with over 4 years of professional teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Vocal Performance. My background allows me to work comfortably with students of all levels, from school and college learners to adult and professional performers. I specialize in musical theater and Broadway-style singing, where storytelling, character, and vocal technique must work seamlessly together. In my lessons, I focus heavily on character acting through song, helping students connect emotionally to lyrics while maintaining strong vocal control. Stage presence, confident movement, and expressive delivery are key elements of my teaching approach. I also emphasize belt technique, ensuring it is developed safely and sustainably. Vocal agility is another strength I bring to my lessons, especially for performers who need to make quick stylistic or emotional shifts on stage. With a strong foundation in ear training, harmony, improvisation, and music theory, I help students understand their voices on a deeper musical level. I believe every voice is unique and deserves to be nurtured rather than molded into a single style. My teaching style is interactive, encouraging, and rooted in healthy vocal technique. My teaching approach is built on the idea that singing is communication, not just sound. Every song tells a story, and I help singers understand that story before they ever focus on technique. We work deeply on lyric interpretation so each word feels honest and intentional. Emotional connection is developed slowly, allowing singers to feel safe expressing real emotion. Storytelling through singing is a central part of every lesson. I guide students to shape phrases in ways that carry meaning to an audience. Technique is taught only to support expression and clarity, never to block natural feeling. I focus strongly on authentic expression and powerful communication. I work especially well with expressive musical theater styles, including material like Fiddler on the Roof and The Music Man. I dedicate myself to refining how singers move listeners emotionally and mentally. Lessons are supportive, focused, and encouraging. I support each student in building confidence, presence, and emotional depth. Over time, singers do more than perform songs; they truly embody them.
