About Isabella

I graduated with a BA in Political Science and Philosophy from UMass Amherst in May 2024, two fields that have honed my critical thinking, writing, and analytical skills—key assets in tutoring students in English, essay writing, and logical reasoning. My studies taught me how to build strong, coherent arguments, analyze complex texts, and communicate ideas clearly. As a former member of a mock trial team, I developed a deep appreciation for persuasive writing, effective communication, and the power of logical reasoning, all of which are vital when crafting compelling essays or rhetorical papers. In addition, my experience as a research assistant sharpened my attention to detail, refined my editing skills, and deepened my understanding of academic writing.

Outside of academics, I enjoy playing chess, reading political commentaries and philosophical works, both of which further enhance my ability to analyze complex ideas and think critically. Currently, I work as a paralegal while preparing to pursue law school, a journey that continues to sharpen my writing, research, and analytical abilities. Through all of these experiences, I’ve developed a patient and methodical approach to tutoring that helps students master the fundamentals of writing while building confidence in their academic skills.

About the lesson

I take a patient, student-focused approach to tutoring, tailoring each session to meet the specific needs of middle school, high school and undergraduate students. I believe in working directly with students on their own assignments—whether it’s an essay, thesis, or reading—so we can identify areas for improvement together. I guide them through the process of refining their work, providing constructive feedback on structure, clarity, and argumentation. My teaching method emphasizes the fundamentals of essay writing, including basic structure, thesis development, and logical reasoning. By returning to these core principles, I help students build a strong foundation in writing and critical thinking that supports long-term academic success. Through collaboration, I aim to boost their confidence and help them develop the skills needed to excel in their academic endeavors.
