About Josie

My teaching approach in Chemistry is nurturing, personalised, and focused on helping students excel. I cover topics like environmental chemistry, pollution remediation, green chemistry principles, and sustainable chemical processes. Lessons are designed to encourage conscious chemical thinking and practical understanding. I use clear examples to show how chemistry affects the environment, from reducing waste to creating energy-efficient reactions. Together, we explore atom economy, catalysis, solvent-free techniques, and other strategies for eco-friendly chemical practices. I make complex concepts approachable and connect them to real-world sustainability challenges. I support students from diverse backgrounds, including wildlife photographers and medical technologists, in developing a deeper appreciation of chemistry’s role in their work and the world. I guide them to think critically, solve problems creatively, and apply knowledge responsibly.

About the lesson

I’m a Chemistry tutor with over 10 years of teaching experience and an MSc in Chemistry. I’m passionate about helping students understand the principles of green chemistry and sustainable synthesis. My goal is to make complex topics accessible while showing how chemistry can be practised responsibly. I guide students through strategies like atom economy, catalysis, solvent-free reactions, and waste reduction to design environmentally friendly chemical processes. I emphasise the importance of minimising waste and using resources efficiently. Lessons are interactive, practical, and tailored to each student’s pace and curiosity. I enjoy seeing them connect theory to real-world applications that promote sustainability. Together, we explore creative solutions to chemical challenges while keeping environmental impact in mind.
