About Layla
I am a piano tutor with 9 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Collaborative Piano. My teaching approach focuses on developing critical thinking, musicality, and individualized learning for each student. I believe that holistic development is key, so lessons incorporate music theory, ear training, history, and technique alongside performance skills. I have guided students from Early Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate levels, as well as Professional and Expert musicians, helping them achieve their personal and professional goals. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s pace, interests, and musical aspirations. I emphasize creativity, expression, and understanding the music beyond just playing notes. Through interactive exercises and repertoire practice, students build technical skill, interpretive insight, and confidence. I also encourage exploring different styles and genres to broaden musical perspective. My goal is to nurture both skill and passion, making learning piano a rewarding experience. Whether you are starting your musical journey or refining advanced skills, I provide guidance, support, and inspiration. I teach piano with a focus on blending classical, pop, jazz, and contemporary styles to create a personalised learning experience. My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, whether mastering repertoire, composing, or exploring improvisation. I use technology like ear training apps, metronomes, and DAWs to enhance timing, pitch, and creativity.
Students learn both technical skills and musical expression, building confidence at every step. I guide church musicians in mastering hymns and liturgical pieces, and I support digital producers in composing and arranging using modern tools. Lessons include interactive exercises, repertoire practice, and creative projects designed to inspire.
I emphasise developing listening skills, rhythm, and stylistic versatility. Each session adapts to the student’s pace, making learning enjoyable and effective. My goal is to foster a lifelong passion for piano while helping students excel in their specific musical interests.
