About Jessica
I’m a dedicated tutor with over 3 years of experience supporting students in maths, science, and history. I have a BSc in Chemistry (2:1) and am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in scientific thinking and problem-solving, particularly in chemistry, which I tutor up to degree level.
I am passionate about helping students build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of their subjects. I aim to make learning feel approachable by breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and encouraging students to think through problems logically rather than rely on memorisation alone.
I have experience working with a range of students across different levels, from GCSE through to A Level and undergraduate study, and I always adapt my approach to suit the individual learner. My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and can make steady, meaningful progress.

I take a structured but flexible approach to tutoring, focusing on building real understanding rather than memorisation. My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, starting by identifying any gaps in knowledge before breaking topics down into clear, manageable steps. I use a mix of explanation, guided practice, and active questioning throughout sessions to check understanding and build confidence. I also place strong emphasis on exam technique and how to approach questions effectively under timed conditions.
A typical lesson is 60 minutes, although this can be adapted depending on the student’s needs and goals. Each session is planned but adaptable, allowing time to revisit difficult areas or extend learning when needed.
I have over 3 years of tutoring experience, supporting students in maths, science, and history. I specialise in chemistry, which I teach up to degree level. I hold a BSc in Chemistry (2:1) and I am currently studying a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. My academic background allows me to support students with both foundational understanding and more advanced concepts, particularly in chemistry and related sciences.
My lessons are suitable for students from GCSE level through to A Level and undergraduate degree level, depending on the subject. I work with a wide range of abilities, from students looking to build confidence and catch up, to those aiming for top grades and exam performance improvement.
Overall, I aim to make challenging subjects feel more approachable, helping students become more independent, confident learners.

My hourly rate reflects my academic background, tutoring experience, and the level of support I provide, particularly in chemistry up to degree level. Sessions are carefully planned and tailored to each student’s needs, focusing on both understanding and exam performance.
I offer support across a range of levels, from GCSE through to A Level and undergraduate study, depending on the subject. More advanced topics, exam preparation, and degree-level chemistry tuition may require more in-depth planning and preparation, which is reflected in my pricing.
I am happy to work with students on both short-term exam preparation and longer-term academic support. Consistency is encouraged for the best results, as this allows for steady progress and a deeper understanding of key topics.
