About Axel

I’m a singing tutor with over 8 years of teaching experience and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Vocal Performance, and I love helping adults reconnect with their voices. Much of my work is with adult beginners, hobby singers, and people returning to singing after a long break. Whether your goal is to sing comfortably in a community choir, enjoy karaoke with friends, or feel more confident singing socially, I create a low-pressure and encouraging space where learning feels safe and enjoyable. My teaching focuses on healthy breathwork, vocal relaxation, posture, and developing a free, natural tone. I also bring mindfulness into music-making, helping students become more aware of their bodies and voices as they sing. Technique is always taught in a practical, accessible way. I work across styles including Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult music, adapting lessons to suit your taste and comfort level. I’m deeply passionate about singing as a form of self-care, creativity, and confidence-building. You don’t need to be perfect to sing—you just need curiosity and a willingness to explore. If you’re ready to start or restart your singing journey at any age, I’d be happy to welcome you, simply for the joy of singing.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is practical, supportive, and focused on helping students sound confident and professional. I work closely with music majors and Suzuki students, guiding them through both technical growth and real-world musical skills. Strong vocal technique is the foundation, including breath control, posture, tone clarity, and vocal health. From there, I connect technique directly to how the voice works in recorded settings.

Students learn microphone technique, including distance, placement, and consistency. I also teach studio recording etiquette so sessions feel smooth and stress-free. We explore vocal layering, harmonies, and how to record clean takes that blend well. Time is spent understanding effects like reverb and delay, and how to use them tastefully rather than hiding the voice.

My goal is to help students translate their training into polished recordings. Lessons are clear, structured, and encouraging. Together, we focus on making your recordings shine.
