About Mahima

Hi, I’m Mahima! I’m a student at Vanderbilt University studying Biological Sciences and Medicine, Health, and Society on the pre-med track. Through my coursework, research, clinical experience, and leadership roles, I’ve developed a strong background in science as well as a lot of experience working with and supporting others.

I know firsthand that challenging subjects can feel frustrating when they are not explained in a way that matches how you learn. That is why I try to be patient, encouraging, and flexible with every student I work with. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking the time they need to truly understand the material.

I am organized, dependable, and committed to creating a positive learning environment. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them become more confident and independent learners.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on making difficult concepts feel simple, approachable, and less overwhelming. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adjust my teaching style based on their needs, whether that means using visuals, step-by-step explanations, practice problems, repetition, or real-life examples.

A typical lesson starts with identifying what the student already understands and where they are struggling. From there, we review the concept together, work through examples, and then practice independently so I can make sure the material truly makes sense. I also help students develop better study habits, test-taking strategies, and ways to remember important information.

What sets me apart is that I am very patient and encouraging. As a Vanderbilt University student with experience in science and pre-med coursework, I know how stressful challenging classes can feel, and I try to create a comfortable environment where students are never afraid to ask questions.

My lessons are great for elementary, middle school, high school, and college students depending on the subject. I can especially help with biology, general science, anatomy and physiology, study skills, homework support, and exam preparation.
