About Olivia
I've been teaching students how to improve their grades and boost their confidence writing academically for 5+ years as a Teaching Assistant in the department of Health, Aging, and Society at McMaster University. I have taught 300+ students how to think critically about assigned readings and research, and how to translate what they find into their coursework.
Learning how to write an essay in university can feel like a bunch of arbitrary rules just to sound like you belong in the club, but even when you follow them your prof, your TA, or your advisor hits you with a 70. I've been that student, I've been that TA, and I know how to help.

Learn what makes academic writing good, not just how to imitate it, or how to make your writing "sound" academic. I teach why conventions exist, how to test your arguments for validity, and how to select precise, relevant evidence. If “needs clarity” leaves you stuck, I’ll show you what to fix and why. For high school students, university students, international students, and ESL academics of all ages.
LESSON PLAN
From prompt to polished essay: I guide you in interpreting questions, forming a strong thesis, and building clear arguments with supporting evidence. If you've already got a first draft, we'll edit together to improve flow, coherence, and ensure each point meaningfully supports your thesis.
