About Leah

My name is Leah Willis, I am the owner of Hueman Alternatives. I help people expand their empowerment, re-enforcement resilience and heighten healing through ancestral wisdom. I believe integrating ancestral wisdom and present and future intelligence is essential for vitality, peace and freedom.

I am a 200 hour certified and registered yoga instructor and will be graduating with an additional 300 hours of advanced training in June 2023. I have 3 years experience teaching Hatha/vinyasa, restorative yoga and yoga nidra. I specialize in yoga for beginners, modifications for all levels, restorative yoga and meditation.

I am passionate about encouraging my students to take agency over their yoga practice. Yoga looks different in every body and Every Body can do yoga.

I am currently offering Online Classes Only.

I began my personal yoga practice at Daybreak Yoga in 2018 after attending a yoga workshop for runners. I enjoyed the physical challenge as well as the mental focus and the balance yoga brought to my life. In 2020 I enrolled in Yoga Teacher Training at the Dawn M Rivers School of Yoga at Daybreak. I completed my 200 hour certification and was hired as an instructor at Daybreak. I eventually became the studio manager and taught for 2 years until the studio closed in 2022. I decided to further my training at Taproot Yoga and will graduate my 300 hour training in June 2023.

I am a 200 hour certified and Yoga Alliance registered instructor with additional training in trauma informed yoga and fascia systems. I am currently enrolled in a 300 hour program and will graduate in June 2023.

About the lesson

For private clients I meet with them by phone or virtually to discuss their needs, challenges and expectations. We would do a series of movements to access areas of strength, tension or weakness. After an assessment I will create a practice to address the client's needs. I can instruct private clients online or in person at their location. I also offer group classes on line.

I have worked with beginners and intermediate students of all ages, from teen to students over 70 years old. I have taught students of various abilities and enjoy teaching modifications to make yoga accessible for everyone. I have also assisted in several yoga teacher trainings.

First, make sure they are certified and have received adequate training. They should provide an intake form and ask some questions about any physical concerns as well as your goals for your practice. They should Not try to diagnose or prescribe anything. That is outside of their scope of expertise. They should insure that you are comfortable and aware that you have agency over your practice.

I recently had an opportunity to create and teach a chair yoga class. This was something that took research and practice and I am very proud of my accomplishment.
