About Hannah

Music is my passion and being able to share that passion with others is what makes my job truly rewarding. Through my years of teaching I have had the experience of working with students of all ages and abilities. As a dedicated and experienced teacher I understand that each individual learns music in a different way. I enjoy discovering, creating and applying different learning styles in my teaching methods. I believe that patience and consistency is key when it comes to learning a new talent. I also believe communication is an essential skill when it comes to teaching not only to students but also parents. When working with a new student I find it very important that we discuss the student's goals for the instrument, whether they are long or short term goals. From there, I determine a structured lesson plan based on the individual's needs and musical experience. During the course of private music lessons my students will learn basic to advanced instrumental techniques, songs, scales, sight-reading, and basic music theory. I also prepare many of my students for musical examinations, auditions and live performances.

My mother introduced me in to music at a very young age. I started playing violin when I was four and a half years old and have been playing ever since. I have been a member of multiple orchestras and symphonies throughout my career. I began teaching along side of my mother who is a well known teacher in the area.

About the lesson

My number one goal when working with someone new is to have my student able to play their first song within their first 2 lessons, regardless of age or ability. When working with a new student I also find it very important that we discuss the students musical goals for the instrument, whether they are long or short term goals. From there, I determine a structured lesson plan based on the individual's needs and music experience.

I have had the experience of working with people of all ages and abilities. I have taught students who have not had any musical experience to students who have had a great amount of experience and practice and are looking to continue their musical education.

I would recommend looking at their experience and what methods of teaching they use. Have they worked with people of all ages and learning abilities? One of the most important things to understand as a teacher is that everyone is different. Not everyone learns at the same pace or even the same way. One of the most exciting and interesting parts of my job is being able to find "the perfect way" for each student to achieve their goals.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before taking lessons I think it is important that the student understands and demonstrates patience. Learning a new instrument can be challenging and will take some time but it is a skill that is so rewarding. It is also important that the student has time dedicated to practicing. This time will vary depending on the age, experience, and level of the student and should be discussed in the first few lessons with the teacher.

Details

The location I teach at handles the charges on a monthly bases. This includes 4 lessons a month. One half hour lesson each week on a set time and day.
