About Rebecca
Lifeguarding and teaching children to swim has been a passion of mine for quite a few years. Learning water safety and being able to handle yourself in the water is a crucial skill to me. Watching the joy of their accomplishment once they can swim across the pool, makes me feel that I made a difference.
I specialize in teaching beginner swim lessons to students between the ages of 3 and 12. I work on the basic survival skills of keeping yourself afloat, and practice being able to swim to the other side of the pool.
Once this has been mastered, I start to teach the different strokes and work on techniques.
After lifeguarding for many years, and watching children struggle in the pool I began to teach swim lessons. Since then, it has been a passion of mine , which I find a very rewarding summer job.
I have lifeguarded and managed a pool for 6 years. I have also taught swim lessons for the past two years and am certified in first aid and CPR.

Typically I start by getting the student comfortable with the water and teaching them the basic skills needed to float and get to the side safely.
I have mostly worked with beginners who are just learning how to swim. I have also worked with some swimmers to perfect their strokes in the water, and improve their swimming skills.
I would tell the student to continue to work on the skills that we practiced, because there is always room for learning and improvement.
One of my previous students was very scared of swimming and getting in the water. After working with him for 2 weeks on learning how to swim, which helped him to become more comfortable in the water he was excited to swim and able to swim across the entire length of the pool by himself. It was one of the most rewarding experiences watching him become comfortable in the water and proud of his accomplishments.
