1) Your Spanish lessons will be personalized to YOUR needs. Tell me what you want, and you got it! Whether you know nothing and are just trying to pass Spanish 101 OR you're advanced and want to improve your fluidity, estoy aqui para servirte :)

2) You do the talking! The best way to learn anything is by doing it. My classes are stuctured, so that you'll be doing the majority of the speaking. I'm here to guide you through new language and correct your errors along the way, but I want you to gain more confidence and independence in your language skills.

3) I've been there. I learned Spanish as a second-language. I know how frustrating it can be! I'm here to be your cheerleader and provide you with a relaxed, fun environment that is optimal for you to learn. Also, because Spanish isn't my native language, I have had to make sense of all of those weird grammatical rules that make us go "what?!"

I love to speak Spanish, AND I love to teach! I get to speak Spanish with you for thirty minutes to an hour AND have fun AND get to know you AND watch you grow AND gain more confidence in your language abilities? Sign me up :)

I have fomal and informal Spanish language education and training. See below:

1) Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison

2) College-level Spanish coursework at the University of Seville-Spain for 4 months in 2015

3) I worked and lived in Costa Rica from 2016-2018 for a tourism company. This is the informal side of my Spanish education. Even though I wasn't taking regular Spanish classes, navigating through life in a Spanish-speaking country definitely brought my Spanish to the next level!

4) During the 2018-2019 school year, I taught Spanish to kindegartners- third graders with University Language Center (ULC). I received formal foreign language education with ULC. My before and after school hour long sessions were focused on student speech production, and they were fun, engaging, and full of games!

5) I am a returned Peace Corps Volunteer from the Dominican Republic where I was working as a Spanish Literacy Promoter. I returned in March 2020, and received a score of Superior on the ACTFL Language Proficiency Scale.

About the lesson

With new students, I want to get to know you first. I want you to feel comfortable with me and get a sense of what you're looking for out of the class. Then, I like to do a short, relaxed conversational assessment, so I'm structuring my classes appropriately to your language needs.
